Remembrance
I want to take a break from all of the fun and games for a bit to acknowledge the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. For me, the events hit very close to home as I am a New Yorker and I can remember exactly what I was wearing that day, down to where I was when it happened--one block away from the World Trade Center. I remember the reunion with my mother after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, but sadly, there are many who don't have that same memory.
Let's take a moment to reflect on those who were not as fortunate as me to make it home in one piece, the rescue workers who gave their lives and those who are still suffering the effects through their daily health problems. Say a prayer for the families who had to set one less place at the dinner table and the children who will grow up not knowing their mother or father.
9/11 affected us all in some way and I still can't believe it's been five years. Choose today, and hopefully the rest of your lives, to live as a better person.
Peace,
Dakota Jones
